Today my wife and I are celebrating our 3rd anniversary!
I LOVE YOU SANDY! HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!
Been doing some work on optimizing my spamassassin rules to help cut down on the amount of junk mail I get on a day to day basis. Ever since I installed spamassassin and started training the baysien filter on a week to week basis the amount of junk that ends up in my inbox has decreased dramatically.
Here is are a couple of great resources for spamassassin rules:
http://www.rulesemporium.com/ - SARE - Spamassassin Rules Emporium
Spamassassin Wiki - Custom Rule Sets
sa-update - Automatically update SARE Rules
Hopefully you will find these resources useful.
Got the bike put back together and ready for the trip down to Biketoberfest yesterday. Oil changed, tranny fluid changed, new tires, cleaned the air filter, bolt check, just the basic maintenance stuff I do on a pretty regular basis and before any long trip.
No matter how much maintenance you do or how well you keep your scoot running there can (and usually are) always be problems when you are out on the road. Day to day I carry a small tool kit that has what I need to handle some pretty basic problems, but when my wife and I go on a long trip and we are planning to be away for an extended period of time I put together a little more expanded tool kit.
Here is pretty much what I carry, may be a little overkill but you never know, and being stuck on the side of the highway when you know if you just had that one wrench you could be on your way really sucks!
- Phillips Screwdriver
- Slotted Screwdriver
- Set of allen wrenches
- 3/8″ Ratchet with 7/16, 1/2, 9/16 sockets and a spark plug socket.
- 1/4, 3/8, 7/16, 1/2, 9/16 Wrenchs
- 10mm Wrench (for the battery)
- Adjustible Wrench (big enough to adjust to fit the rear axle)
- Small set of Vise-grips
- Needle nose pliers
- Wire Cutter/Stipper
- Pliers
- Tube of blue and a tube of red loctite
- Cable ties
- Small multimeter
- Small roll of wire
- Electical tape
- Small flashlight
- Couple of small hose clamps
- A small assortment of washers, lock washers, nuts, and bolts.
Seems like a lot but it really isn’t, and all of it fits in a little tool bag that I picked up at Sears. Pretty much enough stuff to handle minor problems and get me off the road until you can get somewhere to do a more permenant repair.

Just over a week before Sandy and I make our annual trip down to Daytona Beach Florida for Biketoberfest!
Been getting the bike ready for the ride. Changed the oil and tranny fluid. Did a quick bolt check to make sure all the motor and transmission mounts are torqued. Getting new tires for the front and rear. Did not really need new tires, I mean they were close and probably would have been fine for the trip but figured since I was doing the maintenance and they would definitely need replacing by the time we got back I decided to go ahead and replace them.
Checked the brakes, adjusted the clutch, cleaned the air filter - all looks good to go.
I do have a small leak with some tranny fluid seeping through the transmission mainshaft and out the seal on the jackshaft nut. It is a bit of a pain since I am running a dry clutch and the little bit of tranny fluid on the clutch plates causes the clutch to slip a little into first gear. Once the plates dry out it is no big deal, not going to fix that till I get back though - it should be ok for the ride - it only seems to seep a little when the bike is on the side stand.
Also replace the petcock. I had put a cheap chinese one on there and the lever broke off after a few hundred miles. Put a Pingel Power-Flow Fuel Valve on it this time. They are suppose to be the best. It looks nice - hopefully it will hold up to my abuse.
Did a little bit of cleaning and polishing on it, but not too much - just knocked the big stuff off.
The bike is ready and we are ready. Biketoberfest is always a good time.
