Just over a week before Sandy and I make our annual trip down to Daytona Beach Florida for Biketoberfest!
Been getting the bike ready for the ride. Changed the oil and tranny fluid. Did a quick bolt check to make sure all the motor and transmission mounts are torqued. Getting new tires for the front and rear. Did not really need new tires, I mean they were close and probably would have been fine for the trip but figured since I was doing the maintenance and they would definitely need replacing by the time we got back I decided to go ahead and replace them.
Checked the brakes, adjusted the clutch, cleaned the air filter - all looks good to go.
I do have a small leak with some tranny fluid seeping through the transmission mainshaft and out the seal on the jackshaft nut. It is a bit of a pain since I am running a dry clutch and the little bit of tranny fluid on the clutch plates causes the clutch to slip a little into first gear. Once the plates dry out it is no big deal, not going to fix that till I get back though - it should be ok for the ride - it only seems to seep a little when the bike is on the side stand.
Also replace the petcock. I had put a cheap chinese one on there and the lever broke off after a few hundred miles. Put a Pingel Power-Flow Fuel Valve on it this time. They are suppose to be the best. It looks nice - hopefully it will hold up to my abuse.
Did a little bit of cleaning and polishing on it, but not too much - just knocked the big stuff off.
The bike is ready and we are ready. Biketoberfest is always a good time.
